Kwemo, Founder & Chair, Believe in Africa (BIA) and Managing Director For Africa at Washington Media Group was recognized as the African Change Maker of the Year by African Achievers Award The Board members of the AAA honored Ms. Kwemo for her commitment to promoting African economic development, mutually beneficially partnership among nations and intra Africa trade relations. Rex Idaminabo, President of AAA said: “We are convinced that your passion will help create inter-relations between emerging markets and most developed countries and has helped businesses change needs to ideas, produce business results and create sustainable business developments”. Ms. Ayanda Ngwane, representative of AAA added “We applaud you for your excellence, unwavering commitment to economic future of the continent and your leadership in empowering youth and women in Africa and the diaspora. Sharing your experience in your book “Against All Odds” is a source of inspiration and encouragement to aspiring leaders like many of us”. Ms. Kwemo said: “I am absolutely grateful to be receiving a commendation from such an esteemed organization. My familiarity with the African Achievers Award is that of high regard; so to be recognized for my work by your organization is extremely humbling. People that have received prior awards from the African Achievers Award organization have been men and women of admiration with true African commitment. It gives a great deal of responsibilities. She dedicated her award to her colleagues and to many African in the continent and in the diaspora, those “silent heroes” whose works are not noticed but who are tirelessly working to advocate for Africa economic development. The African Achievers Awards is currently in its sixth edition. Other 2016 honorees includes: Nakedi Mathews Phosa from South Africa, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Hon Thapelo Olopeng (Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture, Botswana), John Momoh (Chairman, Channels TV), Johnson Arthur Sakaja (National Chairman of Ruling Party in Kenya), Mosima Gabriel (Former Minister, South Africa). The first edition held in 2011 at kings’ College, London where Archbishop Desmond Tutu was honored. AAA has consistently recognizes great African Achievers from African Leaders, Young Achievers, to captains of Industries across the continent. The journey has seen the award ceremony move from, London (hosted in Kings College & Waldorf Hilton) to Kenya to Ghana to South Africa and Nigeria. Believe in Africa (BIA) is an African diaspora-led initiative founded by former U.S. congressional staffers and African leaders in the U.S., to empower young Africans, promote the role of the African private sector, harness the power of the African diaspora, educate policy makers and the public about African economic growth and highlight the continent’s gradual rise in the global community
