The National Chairman of the Nigeria’s major oppositional party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Prince Uche Secondus has admonished the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and all security agents planed to be deployed ahead of the 2019 to desist from trying to rig the election in favour of the ruling party as the nation is already intense
Speaking during the PDP Presidential Candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubaka town hall meeting youths in Lagos yesterday, Secondus stressed that what transpired in Ekiti and Osun would not be tolerated in 2019.
“Let me at this point warn INEC and the security agencies the ruling party plans to use to rig the 2019 elections, Nigeria is already tensed up . Our security agencies are the best in Africa but this time around, it will not be like Ekiti or Osun where our security agents will co-opt with INEC to rig election no way! In 2019, you cannot rig this election and I believe by the grace of God, PDP is going to win the presidential election.” He said
In the same vein, PDP Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar reasued the youth tgathered that is administration would be youth driven. Atiku vowed that 40 percent of this administration will be youth driven. “I have said that 40 percent of my government will be youths and my minister of youths will be less than 30 years old. it’s simply because the youths are the future of this country so I want to make sure that good future are built for our youths.”
“I believe in is creating jobs, Buhari recently told governors that our economy is in comatose , this is not the kind of government Nigeria want in power again. In Buhari’s government, there is no single economist, so they don’t know how to manage the economy. And our lives either young or old depend on the economy.”
Atiku however reiterated that his plan is to to lower tax rates for companies that will engage most youth to be gainfully employed. “In most industrialized countries, if you give lower tax rates to companies, the private sectors can help create jobs. I hear people say they were not given opportunity, but for me, former President Obasanjo gave me all opportunity when we introduced numbers of economic reforms in privatization and other related sectors. When you have a president who cannot put up a cabinet in six months, what do you expect? There is no PDP government since we returned to democracy that is run by a cabal. Either in Obasanjo’s administration or late Yar adua’s administration, or Jonathan’s administration had any form of cabals in them”.
Also speaking at the event, the Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jimi Agbaje has stated that APC has been rejected by all segments of the Lagos society. “We have been on this for sometime and I can tell you that our campaign is for thè freedom of Lagos. We are saying no more ‘baba sope’ (godfatherism).” He said.
