Gambian Diaspora to Vote in 2021 Elections

Alieu Momar Njai, Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has revealed that Gambian in Diaspora would vote in next presidential elections in 2021.

 He noted that Gambian in the Diaspora has been contributing a lot toward the national development and has been denial there to right to vote in our election for long now.

He was speaking at IEC head office along the Bertil Harding Highway during an oversight visit of the members of the select committee on local government, Land, IEC and ombudsman of the National Assembly yesterday.

 Njai said it also part of good governance and democracy to gives every Gambian citizens the right to vote in any national election and Gambia in the Diaspora are not exception.

 According to him, their plan reform agenda is not only to gives the opportunities for Gambian Diaspora to vote but also to be voted for and have a two or three representative at the National Assembly.

 He said they want Gambia Diaspora also to choose or elect their own representative at the National Assembly so that their voice can be heard.
