On Saturday 26 night, there was a blast at the Junction of Tom Mboya and Latema road. The incident left two people injured.
According to Police, a person of Somali origin contracted the trolley owner to carry his goods. At the junction, the suspect excused himself to pick his identity card which he claimed he had forgotten at a nearest shop.
In the process of waiting for the owner of the luggage, the box he was carrying exploded. He sustained minor injuries on his right hand and a newspaper vendor who was nearby sustained minor injuries on his right leg. They were admitted, treated and later discharged.
Police have launched an intensive hunt for the suspect. Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage as investigation goes on.
Meanwhile, Kenyans have been asked to be alert and report any suspicious activity or person to security agencies. Hotel operators have been urged to obtain full details of their clients and be careful of activities taking place in their environs.
“We are also calling on shopping mall operators as well as ushers at all houses of worship, educational institutions, and all other public places to frisk all persons entering their promises and promptly notify the police should they detect unusual action,” said the police.
Public service vehicles operators have also been urged to closely observe the behavior of their strangers and to be wary of people who may board with luggage and thereafter attempt to alight without it.
