Stars suffered a humiliating 2-0 defeat in their opening match of the tournament played at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo on Sunday night. First half goals from Baghdad Bounedjah and Manchester City winger Riyad Maherez sealed three points for the Desert Foxes who face the title favorites Senegal in their second game of the showpiece. Stars conceded penalty in the 37th minutes and Algeria took the lead before Maherez extended the lead two minutes to break. Migne’s side has no option but to win against Tanzania to boost their chances of reaching the group stages. The two teams will face each other on June 27. Kenya is yet to go past preliminary stage in their last 5 outings. They made it to the tournament after 15 years of absence. Tanzania will also need to be at their best to overcome their neighbors. They also lost 2-0 to Senegal in a match played on Sunday evening. They also appeared to the biennial tourney after 39 years of absence The Frenchman maintained that his squad which consists of players between 21 to 26 years old is devoid of experience and are dominated with fear. “I can accept to lose but not in the way we did in the first half. We had too much pressure today because of Algeria’s quality. If you are afraid, it is impossible to exist at AFCON,” he said. He added,” We missed experience in this kind of tournament.”
